Alpha Comes to Pilgrim Lutheran Church

Alpha is…

A practical introduction to the Christian faith which seeks to answer questions like:

• What is the purpose of life?
• What happens when we die?
• Who is Jesus and is He relevant for our lives?
• How do we deal with knowledge about ourselves we can’t admit to others?

If you have questions like these, then Alpha is for you. If you’re not sure, come to the first evening meeting on September 14th and learn more.

What is Alpha?

Alpha is:

Anyone interested in finding out about the Christian faith. All ages are welcome.

Learning and laughter. It’s possible to learn about the Christian faith while having fun.

Pizza. Sharing supper together gives us a chance to get to know each other in an informal setting.

Helping one another. Small groups encourage you to discuss your questions.

Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile.

Who is Alpha for?

• Those wanting to ask hard questions about Christianity.
• New Christians
• Those who never got going as Christians
• Newcomers
• Those who want to bring friends

What’s involved?

The Alpha Course begins each week with supper. The evening includes a video presentation and ends with an opportunity for discussion.

The weekly meetings will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

The course begins Tuesday, September 14th, and concludes November 16th.

Oct. 11th — How can I be sure of my faith?

Oct. 18th — Why and how should I read the Bible?

Oct. 25th — Why and how do I pray?

Nov. 1st — How does God guide us?

Nov. 8th — How can I resist evil?

Nov. 17th — Who is the Holy Spirit?
Saturday — What does the Holy Spirit do? How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?

Nov. 29th — Why and how should we tell others?

Dec. 6th — Does God heal today?

Dec. 13th — What about the church?

Dec. 20th — End Party

There is no fee for the class. We will take a free will offering for dinner.
