Christmas in November
Every Christmas we celebrate God’s greatest gift given to us: Jesus. Jesus lived a perfect life of service, was crucified, and rose from the dead to proclaim that nothing, not even sin and death, can separate us from God’s loving presence.
The Holy Spirit has given each of us unique gifts that God uses to help others see and experience Jesus’ love. Many of us, however, have never unwrapped or discovered our spiritual gifts. That’s why our congregation is offering the course Discovering God’s Vision for Your Life: You and Your Spiritual Gifts.
Now you can sign up and embark with others on an journey of discovery and ministry in a [number of weeks] course developed by Dr. Kenneth C. Haugk, founder of the Stephen Ministry system of lay caring ministry and author of many books, including the best-selling Christian Caregiving—a Way of Life.
The course is biblically based and answers questions such as:
- To whom are spiritual gifts given?
- What is the purpose of spiritual gifts?
- How can I be sure that I have a particular spiritual gift?
- What does the Bible say about each spiritual gift?
- What is the difference between the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit?
When we first offered the course we offered it over a period of eight straight weeks. This schedule made it difficult for some Pilgrims to put into their schedule. To better meet the needs of busy Pilgrims we’ve scheduled a two-part Saturday retreat setting instead. We’ll offer the course on Saturday, November 15th, from 9:00 AM until 3:15 PM and on Saturday, November 22nd, from 9:00 AM until 3:15 PM.
There will be a registration fee to cover the cost of materials, refreshments, and meals. Each session will build upon the previous sessions so faithful attendance is necessary. Registration indicates a participant’s commitment to attend all the sessions.
Sign up for this exciting opportunity for personal and spiritual growth. To register or obtain further information about the course, please speak to Pastor Jim Kreft (301-229-2800 or pjk@pilgrimbethesda.org).
As Christians we celebrate Jesus as Immanuel, God with us. When we discover and use our spiritual gifts, Jesus ministers to the needs of others through us. We are the flesh and bones of God’s presence in people’s lives. Come experience the grace of Jesus more fully by discovering your spiritual gifts.
