“The Body of Christ” 2009 Midweek Lenten Series
A series of special Midweek Services for Lent
Week by week during the season of Lent God’s people, who are the Body of Christ in God’s world today, are invited to meditate thoughtfully on the human body with which our Lord first brought God’s saving love to the world during our Midweek Lenten services. Week by week we’ll look at another topic to help us more fully understand all Jesus did for us.
Our schedule looks like this:
- February 25th – The Feet of Christ to lead the way
- March 4th – The Hands of Christ to help and heal
- March 11th – The Mouth of Christ to speak God’s Word
- March 18th – The Ears of Christ to hear our prayers
- March 25th – The Eyes of Christ to see our needs
- April 1st – The Heart of Christ beating with love
Our Midweek series will begin on Ash Wednesday, February 25th, and run through Wednesday, April 1st (no fooling!). Services begin at 7:30 PM and will run approximately 45 minutes. Our Ash Wednesday service, February 25th, will run approximately one hour since it will also have the imposition of ashes as well as Holy Communion.
One feature that makes these Midweek Lenten services a special treat is that different Pilgrims help present the message. We’ll again feature two Pilgrims each Wednesday who will present the dialog message.
Again this year there will be a Soup Supper before each Midweek Lenten Service. The supper will begin at 6:15 PM, with food served until 7:15 PM. While there is no cost to the meal, a free-will offering will be taken to help defray any costs. Leftover funds will go to the Sunday School room renovation fund.
We encourage you to join us each week for these special services. It will truly be a time of thoughtful preparation for Jesus’ upcoming Passion -His suffering, death, and resurrection – for you during this preparatory season of Lent.
