S.O.A.P System

We encourage you to try the S.O.A.P. study method: scripture, observation, application, and prayer. If you do these you’ll be well on your way of growing in your relationship with your God.

Start with the Scripture. Read the verses that are in this 07plan for the day.

Observation comes next. As you read, write down any observations that you have from the text. What does it say? What does it say to you?

Then comes an important but often overlooked step: Application. Based on what you have read, what should you do? Try to make this practical and realistic. It might help you to set a goal for the day based upon your reading. Write it down and hold yourself accountable to it.

Don’t skip this last step: Prayer. Spend some time in prayer to God. Confess and repent of any sins that were brought to light while you were reading. Spend time thanking God. Also spend some time in silence listening to God. You might just be surprised with He will say to you.

We pray that God will indeed speak to you through His word. As He does, His Holy Spirit will work in your heart as He did to His early Church to transform you—and your church—into His new creation.
